EMSTAR is passionate about this area of training. We are extremely proud of our 5 hour workshop developed in conjunction with the Olympic Delivery Authority and major contractors on the Olympic site. The course has been successfully rolled out across the Olympic project and to date somewhere in the region of 400 candidates have attended the training.
Course Aims By the end of the training session candidates will:
- Understand the organisational benefits of developing a diverse and respectful workforce
- Understand the concept of organisational discrimination and its impact upon the workforce and client base
- Be aware of the legal framework surrounding diversity, in particular the Human Rights Act 2010
- Understand forms which discrimination can take
- Understand how canteen culture can escalate and how it impacts on individuals and organisations
- Appreciate the challenges of communicating in a diverse work team and how these may be minimised
- Understand the potential negative impacts of stereotyping
Methodology Methodology is aimed at encouraging candidates to examine their own view and conceptions around the agenda. Methodologies are wherever possible interactive and discussion is encouraged at all stages. Methodologies will include:
- Short presentations
- Discussion groups
- Short project work
- Exercises
- Case studies
